Recording Tab

Your EEG software records the EEG signal from your amplifier. The bossdevice RESEARCH also records the EEG and AUX Channels that are sent to the bossdevice as well as the "Spatial Filtered Data". The bossdevice RESEARCH also records the "Artifact" and "Oscillation" metrics shown within those tabs.

Export filepath

When "Export imported runs to file on con control PC" is selected, which location on the control PC should this data be sent to.

Stop/Start Recording

Starting and stopping the recording is independent of starting/stopping the "Main Control" in the Top Bar. Starting and stopping the "Main Control" allows the EEG data to be sent to the bossdevice RESEARCH and the bossdevice RESEARCH will start performing calculations on this data. However, nothing will be saved unless the recording has been started here. The ability to start and stop recording within a single session allows multiple recording entries for a single session.

Import File Log

Export imported runs to file on control PC

When your session is done, you must import your recordings from the bossdevice RESEARCH to the control PC. The data will be saved as MATLAB files that can be opened, inspected, post-processed, and analyzed in any MATLAB installation.

Note about Recording using the bossapp

Recording data through the bossapp RESEARCH is possible, but this feature is still in development and waiting for upcoming features in the bossapp dependencies. It is recommended to always record and save all data using your EEG software and not to rely on the bossapp for saved data. Until the full implementation of the record feature on the bossapp, users should plan on doing analysis on the data from the EEG software.

To use the bossapp recording feature, go to the "Recording" tab and click "start recording" at any point after you have started the "Main Control". If you would like to break your recording into separate sections, you can return to the "Recording" tab at any time and click "stop recording" and then "Start recording" again when you are ready. If you have a built-in break between conditions, that would be a good time to stop/start the recording. The recording starts as soon as it is pressed, even if the protocol is not started for a while after recording starts.

Warning

If chunking the recording by stopping and restarting, keep notes on which events or conditions are associated with each block index. The saved files do not have names for each recording, just chronological indices.
